Routines are essential to helping pig learn and know what to expect through out the day from morning routine. Learning when they are fed, where they eat, where they go potty, toys, where they are allowed and not allowed. They also will learn how to tell you they need to potty, when they are hungry, when you get home, when is play time and even when you have cuddle time. Pigs learn fast and just like kids they watch you and learn routine.
Teaching them what you expect will make your home run smoother no matter how big they get.

Teaching them to walk up a ramp, wearing a harness, waiting for a meal in certain area, step training, picking up toys all need done early. So many wait without thinking if I need to go to vet how do I get there? Is there a vet to come to me?

Car rides are also a must do if plan on taking anywhere to prevent poo and pee issues. From the day you get a pig either as baby or older. Cuddle baby in blanket and stop to potty with harness through out trip(doing this over weeks the pig will know he can potty when vehicle stops)
Older pigs who are too big to hold and are unsure of car routine you can do shorter trips and praise letting out via ramp to potty and praise. Slowly make trip longer. Pigs normally won’t go in vehicle if trained. If training for crate in vehicle adding blankets and going on small adventures will make pig look forward to going places. Walking up ramp, praise, treat, in cage, lock praise treats and country music.

It’s all about routine whatever you need to have a 3year old toddler do for the next 15 years plus train asap with routine. If you don’t have a job but expect to get one in the future train now for the time period, you are seeking employment. So many get rehomed when owners start new job yet with getting another pig or training to be alone during time period will make transition when time comes to go smoothly
