To measure your pig get a piece of string or yarn, marker, and a measuring tape
Place the string under the pig just behind front leg and straight up the leg to get the GIRTH.
To get length place string at base of the ear to base of the tail

Square GIRTH ( ex if girth is 20 then square is 20 x 20= 40
GIRTH x LENGTH divide by 400 EX. 50 Girth 40 Length Square girth 50×50=2500
Girth=2500x length of 40 then divide by 400= 250 pounds. USING THIS METHOD IS 10 POUNDS OFF FROM VETS
To measure your pig and if you can lift him/her
Step on scale to get your weight and then hold piggy. Subtract your weight from total to get pigs weight
- Obesity can cause discomfort, lack of energy, digestive problems and leg complications in pigs. A pig’s legs can’t carry excess weight. An overweight pig can suffer damage to the tendons and joints in the legs. Fractures can happen and sprains are common and can happen by a pig just walking across an area(ex-bed, rocks etc)
