Worming Meds

Worm every 6months if pig needs it or not. If in doubt send feces sample to vet.

No need to inject your piggy to worm. Use needle to remove amount from container and place it in yogurt, piece of bread, pumpkin or applesauce. Medicine is very bitter tasting to piggy and if they get whiff of it, they will refuse meds so be sure to use food piggy likes

The following medicines all are the same kind of meds with different labels. Normally you can find these at your local feed store, on line pet pharmacy or feed store or even valley vet.

TICK REMOVAL

Remove the tick as soon as possible. The longer the tick is attached to the skin, the higher the risk of infection. If your mini pig is bitten by a tick, simply remove it and watch the area. If it becomes red, inflamed, or discolored, seek vet care. Tick bites can become infected from the tick’s mouth. From the CDC:

  1. If you find a tick attached to your skin, there’s no need to panic. There are several tick removal devices on the market, but a plain set of fine-tipped tweezers will remove a tick quite effectively. Use a fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin’s surface as possible.
  2. Pull upward with even pressure. Don’t twist it can cause parts to break. If it breaks, remove the parts with tweezers. If you are unable to remove easily with clean tweezers, leave it alone and let the wound heal.
  3. Once you have removed the tick clean the area and your hands with rubbing alcohol or soap and water.
  4. Place tick in alcohol to dispose of it and then place it in a sealed bag or flush it down the toilet.
